Summit Brewing’s Mike Lundell Announces His Second Unchained Beer
Black Ale released just in time for Halloween

St. Paul, MN –  Brewer Mike Lundell announces his second Unchained beer – Black Ale, which pays tribute to
his 15-year run at Summit Brewing Company. The eighth beer to be released in the limited-time-only
Unchained Series, Black Ale will be available in draught the week of Oct. 24 and in bottles the week of Nov. 7.

“We’re so proud to celebrate and release a second Unchained beer by Mike, who previously brought to us the
India Style Rye Ale – a fan favorite,” said Mark Stutrud, founder of Summit Brewing Company. “Mike
continues his bold flavor profiles by creating a dark, hoppy ale that’s the perfect Halloween-time concoction.”

A medium-bodied brew, the Black Ale evokes citrus, passion fruit and peppery notes inspired by exotic hops
from Australia and New Zealand. The addition of Cara Wheat gives the beer a nice caramel, toasted flavor,
and provides contrast to the darker Carafa III Special and Midnight Wheat malt varieties. It’s also dry-hopped
with Galaxy and Pacific Jade for extra aroma.

Kick-off events for Black Ale featuring brewer Mike Lundell occur throughout this month and November:
·      Monday, Oct. 24: “Black Monday” at Muddy Waters, noon to close.
·      Wednesday, Oct. 26: Beer School at the Republic, 6 p.m.
·      Wednesday, Nov. 2: Urban Eatery Beer Dinner, 6 p.m.
·      Thursday, Nov. 3: The Nook “Burgers, Bowling, and Beer” event, 7-9 p.m.
